Why is it important to clean your pots using a pot brush between seasons?
Cleaning your pots between plants, and in between seasons is essential! Not only does it help keep your pots in great condition, it ensures they look good and are free from old soil, fertiliser residue and most importantly free from dormant bugs and pests which could otherwise damage your young plants or seeds.
Some insects, as well as fungi and other pests can remain dormant within the soil for long periods of time, which is why it's important to scrub down your plant pot using a pot brush - simply to ensure your vulnerable seeds and seedlings aren't exposed to any lingering pests that could otherwise harm them. Things like fungi can exist in even the tiniest spot of soil, so using a fantastic bristly pot brush is just the way to go to ensure you get every ounce.
Something else to think about is that different plant types require different soil conditions, certain plant varieties can be quite vulnerable and effected significantly by soil conditions, so to ensure they remain optimal its imperative you clean your terracotta plant pot. This way you can guarantee your fresh soil and compost remains free from contaminants and is just the perfect spot for your new, young plants to thrive.
